Welcome to my shiny new website!

Well as some of you know I’ve been working hard to develop a new user-friendly website, one that works on phones and tablets and all that jazz and so after much sweat, and a few tears here it is. I hope you like it. If there’s anything you find frustrating about it, or if you think something could be changed to improve matters, please, get in touch. I’m all ears!

So news from the cottage is that I am excited to announce that there will be a brand new, full length, Jean Grainger novel coming out in the next few weeks. It’s called Under Heaven’s Shining Stars and I am really delighted that it will finally see the light of day. It’s not historical, well, it’s set in the 70s and as a child of that decade I absolutely refuse to consider it history!

It is a story about families, love, conflict and all that good stuff but essentially it a tale of friendship. About how far a friendship can be tested and what happens when the cracks begin to show. I was interested in the friendship of boys and men in particular. I have great women friends and we talk about everything, in great detail, and we hammer out each other’s problems together. Wine or tea often plays a part in these discussions, choice of beverage depending on the severity of the problem, but what do men do? It has often intrigued me. As you might know I teach in an all-boys secondary school so I often notice the dynamics of friendship between lads, some of what I observe is used in this book.

Anyway, I’m going to be much more communicative now with my lovely new site so I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

    1. Hi Christine,
thanks so much for that lovely message, I really appreciate it. Writing is a kind of solitary activity so its really nice when I hear from readers.
      All the best,

  1. Really enjoyed your books but have read them all – looking forward to sequel to the Tour. I am in Cork the first weekend of December – 2nd -5th to carry on with family research. I see there have been a number of literary fairs in Cork earlier this year but are you at any in the run up to Christmas at that time?

    1. Hi Sylvia,
Thanks for getting in touch. No I don’t have any plans for that at the moment. To be honest, the literary fairs tend to be run by publishing houses and since my books are self published I’m not really on their radar!
What sort of research are you doing? My husband is a good genealogist if you need any help, he might be able to offer some insights, that’s if you dont have it all covered already.
If you like, email me a jean@jeangrainger.com with anything we can help with,
      All the best,
      Jean x
